Been building a new Cactus house

    This rescue Opuntia is coming into flower, been waiting to compare the flowers with my existing Opuntia humifusa. I think it's a different one but I'm not sure which yet.

    Zigs thanks for article I had to look up tubercles on plants. Learned something new. Great article informative and agree with soil composition for cacti. Adore all your cacti beautiful blooms. Tongs come in handy when transplanting a larger cacti.
    Here in grocery stores you can find opuntia pads sections and prickley pear fruit for sale if the fresh produce section. Never cooked a opunta pad or prickley pear . Have you?

    Ta Pac, thanks for having a look :)

    I've not eaten the pads, folk that I've spoken to that have say they don't taste of much and can give you a bad tummy if you don't cook them well enough.

    I've eaten the Prickly Pears, they taste a bit like grapes :)
