Good Saturday morning all. Currently 22°C and clear. Its going to be a hot one today ...humidex feeling like 44°C. A good day to stay close to the pool.
A very stressfull work week finally over and a reset last night and I'm good to go for the weekend. Lots to do around the house/yard in the next 2 days.
I finally sold the car, so there is room to move in the garage for a good cleanup. Extra parts left behind so I can do a scrap metal run, and start getting organized. My son wants to hang his punching bag up off the A frame in the garage for a while so I'm going to let him have some fun with that.
I've already got a chicken in the oven and the laundry started. Next is a dog walk and then I need to water the garden. Its only 5:30am so I've got a nice early start.
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 24°C and overcast. We had some rain during the night, I'm sure the garden appreciated it after yesterdays exteemely hot temperatures.
It was really to hot to do much of anything yesterday. I had both big doors open in the garage and a breeze so I started cleaning. Re arranged a bunch of stuff, swept the floor and got rid of the garbage and some scrap metal. My son was busy in the back hallway of the house chipping away at the uneven concrete in preparation for our new flooring. Now hopefully our contractor is able to come and lay the flooring soon. A couple more jobs around the house are on my list for this summer and hopefully we can get to them soon. Its going to be another hot day today, so a bit of time over visiting the grandkids and then probably more time in the pool.
Have a great day all :)

It's 12:18 in the morning and we just finished processing beans and beetroot. It is time to check my eyelids for pinholes now.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 17°C and still dark here at 4:43 am. I don't like how its staying dark longer in the morning.
Last night we had wildfire smoke blow in from somewhere, and I can still smell it today. Its also going to be another hot one, and the smoke is going to linger in the humidity and make it a rough day. Maybe I can have an early work day, which wouldn't make it a bad Monday.
Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 20°C and clear. Another day of 30++ degrees and high humidity. I'm over it now and hope for a break soon.
Today my 'baby' turns 22! Hard to believe it, feels like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital.
Off to work, hoping for an early day so that I can get home to help celebrate!
Have a great day all :)

Netty—Gefeliciteerd, we say here. Congratulations with your daughter’s birthday.
I say it every time— I just can’t picture you being old enough to have a 20 y.o. Daughter.
    Have you got something planned?

Annie— I don’t know how tough I am, but my nature is to do what it takes to accomplish the goal. Perhaps not always a good trait.

    Something is going on.
Since Sunday I started to notice a lot of activity in the air at night. I live equidistant from Jacksonville Naval air station and Savannah Army air base both have been having a lot of jets which fly back and fort to Pensacola Naval air base which is a huge training base for military navy pilots.

I sit on my back porch at night and have a beverage and have noted jets flying either one right behind the other in groups of 3 to 5 or, groups of three to five flying in formation. It isn't just one time either. One group will fly by then, just minutes later, another, then another. From 9pm to 1am it goes on repeatedly.

I know they are headed both to and from Pensacola and either Savannah or Jacksonville due to the fact they are flying straight east to either of the two bases on the east coast or west to Pensacola. My town is right in the flight path.

Now this is not normal at all. I wonder...are they practicing night manoeuvers in preparation for whatever may come from Iran? A fatwa he promised on Trump or might they be practicing for an attack from a Russian Submarine ?

Either way, it is not at all normal to have so much activity from military jets at night and nothing out of the ordinary in the day. These jets are not flying very high. They are quite loud and can also be heard indoors with television playing.

Anyone else near a flight path noticing a large increase in military jets flying at night? I've lived here going on 6 years and this is a total anomally !!

@Anniekay just googled why so much activity over both military bases. Maybe just to put you at ease just a bit.
There are several more explinations as these are just a few.

The military bases near Savannah, Georgia, include Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. Information available regarding activity at these locations tonight (July 16, 2025) suggests the following:
    • Routine Activity and Ongoing Operations: Military bases are active 24/7. News and official sources indicate standard operations like staff changes, community engagement, and environmental management taking place recently.
    • Installation Protection Exercise: An update from Fort Jackson's Facebook page says an Installation Protection Exercise is being conducted today.
    • Graduations: Several training graduations are scheduled at Fort Jackson in July and August 2025, suggesting ongoing training activities.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 22°C and overcast. We have a cold front moving through today, and so we will probably get a thunderstorm. We need rain very badly.
Thursday is my busy day, both at work and after work. Rain could change things though, and I'm kinda keeping my fingers crossed haha
@Sjoerd Thats so kind so say, but not only do I have a 22 year old daughter, I also have a 30 year old daughter and a 28 year old son!
Daughter had her sister and the kids over during the day to help celebrate, and we had a nice dinner and 3 kinds of cake!
Now off to work to wear off some of those extra calories!
Have a great day all :)

Ah-HaH !! See, get the "installation protection exercises" and the link says "visitors will experience delayed entry periods". Yep, they are practicing for potential aggressive events. Of course they aren't going to give specifics but, this amount of activity has not happened at any time in the past six years that I've lived here. What would be the odds that they only do these practices once every 6 years ?

They are preparing for potential eventualities !!
