I enjoy playing the guitar and the Piano. Fly fishing, photograpy, and tending my daughters puppies. Cooking, betting a few $ on the ponies, and sitting outside drinking beer watching stuff grow, among other things. IMG_2809.jpg IMG_2888.JPG IMG_2889.JPG IMG_2890.JPG

Lovely selection of hobbies @Jersey Devil . So nice to have a wide variety of interests. I use to play guitar but haven't done so for years, don't think my fingers would cope now.

I tend to find that I don't have much time for hobbies in Spring/ Summer. With the lighter evenings comes more time for being outside doing gardening tasks or sitting and enjoying all that we've achieved.:D

I am still doing my charity knitting of the small hats.
    https://www.ageuk.org.uk/get-involved/fundraise/the-big-knit/
Just sent in my collection for ' 25' as the deadline date was the beginning of July. These hats will be on bottles for sale in shops nationwide around Oct . I have made a bit of a start on the 2026 campaign. They are quick and easy to do so finding the time during Summer does not prove too difficult.

    So far this month.. Resize_20250729_200404_4645.jpg

In the Winter of course there's much more time for finding enjoyable way to pass the short grey days and long dark evenings. More on those later, I don't want to think about that time of year yet!!:( Let's enjoy Summer first.:D:like:

What other tasks fill my day?

I'm very much a home body. I don't like leaving. Even so, I'd like to start Tai chi again and see if I can re-start Spanish classes.

Naps (not that many. I wanted to put that first, anyway).

I sew quilts. I'm slow, so it takes a long time.

Sometimes I sew other things. I must made a summery curtain for the extra bedroom, and I have been taking apart a pajama pant to use as a pattern to make new ones.

I like to read history and archeology. I learn a lot about the universality of some societal trends, and there is always something new to learn about old things.

Home improvement. After consolidating two houses into one, last year, there was too much stuff. Now that's not an issue except for a store room, which needs more work. Also, there are three rooms and a hallway that need painting. First I need to grout the new baseboards and do a little more wall repair.

My favorite hobby is procrastination. I am very good at it, too.

I've been trying to think of what to say in here because I don't find myself to be very interesting to anyone and thought I might just skip this thread. After reading @Daniel W 's thread, I'm kind of the same.

I make braided rugs in winter, though last year I didn do any. I like languages so I am still learning German and since the Ukraine war I am starting to learn their alphabet, for a start. As an aside I don't care for the French language, don't know why since my Nana spoke french to me when I was little, but I just don't care for it.

I love archeology, Ancient anything and Alien theories, DNA research, Mysteries from the 18th and 19th centuries, Anything with witches in it !! I probably practices that in another life !! :p:smt044

I also like fixing and decorating my house which all but one fireplace surround and my living room has been redone since I moved in 5 years ago. I like treasure hunting at Thrift stores and flea markets and pampering my dog Rags ( in my Avatar) who is a real prima donna and total chicken !! OMG !! there's a gnat buzzing around her head and she panics, shaking her head vigorously, looking all around, trying to fend it off, then runs to the door to get away from it !! :smt044 Car rides to Pet Smart to pick out her treat and go plant shopping at Lowes, Home Depot and Tractor Supply is a bi-weekly event.

Other than this, I watch the news on Youtube, British comedy, Gardening shows and the occasional documentary on TV.
    See, I'm very boring. :(

No you're not at all @Anniekay , you seem to have a great range of interests.!!

@Daniel W I have seen your quilts they are truly amazing ,you have such patience and eye for colour. I did use to enjoy dressmaking....years ago when I seemed to have more time to myself.

Not keen on house fixing/ maintenance but it is a necessity of life . Use to love it but we spent over a decade almost completely rebuilding our house, hubs drew up the plans and with the help of a hired builder when the workload needed more muscle he built the house in the evenings after work and at weekends...looking back I don't know how we coped, especially when our brood started arriving. It's remarkable what we did and the amount of energy we had back in our younger day's!!:D Can't bear to read or watch anything now on home renovations!!! Enjoyable times...but enough is enough now.:chuckle:

Thanks for all your contributions to the thread it's great to get to know you all better and also gives others lots of ideas for hobbies to try out too maybe.:):like:x

No, not at all Annie. You listed some fun things to do especially learning language. I am Ukrainian and when I was a child we had to learn prayers in Ukrainian for communion. When u r young its simple , but at our age learning it is a struggle I am afraid I would lose if I tried. And you should post some of the interesting finds you make on your treasure hunts. And decorating your house is certainly not a "boring" endever. And last but not least, panpering Rags, in itself, is a nobel enough activity. And your posts here are very interesting. Smile and pat yourself on the back. :sete_013:

I am half Ukrainian and half Lithuanian. When I used to go to peoples homes to work the nosy old ladies always wanted to know your nationality. When I told them Lithuanian and Ukrainian they would roll their eyes and say "ay yi yi yi yi, what a mix...you must be crazy" :chuckle: Glory to Ukraine

Most of my time is spent looking after the boys/dogs, gardening is my hobby and I'm thinking of growing flowers for drying, the rest of my time in the evenings is falling asleep watching YouTube, not that it's boring i just relax.

That's a shame i think that they're more polite than us. We always meet people from Poland who have settled here and they're much nicer than some of ours.
