Many meals and drinks come to mind most American dishes. Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich a winter staple. Yumm. Homemade tomato concentrate . Sauce in stock for any number of dishes. Tomato juice is a fav for morning breakfast with tobasco & lemon, or an afternoon Bloody Mary drink . Oh and for Pizza sauce.

Cheers Zigs— those test toms are starting to roll in now..

Annie— that is just the beginning. We’ll need another twenty or so for the winter.
The concentrate we use to make chilli con, bolognaise sauce and soup primarily.
it is nothing fancy, the toms get washed and cut, boiled…passed through a passe vite then re- boiled until it is thickish. It takes a long time.

    Pac—Meid, you see that good.

That sounds like the consistency is thicker than tomato soup yet not as thick as tomato paste. Am I correct? :)

    Annie— you are correct. :D
It is so handy to have on hand for the way we cook. We do not eat out very often.

My tomatoes are just starting. It's been so cool and wet this year. Usually by now I've cooked some up, but we're still just eating them fresh. I'm hoping to get enough to make tomato basil jam. I hear it's really good on grilled cheese. I did cut back the grapes so some of the tomatoes can get more of what little sun we're getting this year. It's weird, it'll be hot for two maybe 3 days, then on the last day it cools down in the evening and we have cool weather, thunder, and rain for several days. We seem to be in the cooler days right now. I think I may be a tad jealous Sjoerd. Both the tomatoes and your concentrate looks really good. I did notice my raspberries will probably need to be picked tomorrow. So I'll be starting the big raspberry harvesting tomorrow. It usually lasts well into September. But I don't know about this cooler weather.

I grew 6 plants in mushroom soil. I got so many tomatoes I am giving them away by the dozen. Easily might get 150 fruits by the time I am done. I want to learn how to preserve them but it just seems like so much work when a can cost a dollar at the store. Every day I eat tomatoes on something :) I eat that s**t on everything

Goggle is your friend, but I'm sure that people here would share recipes.

I like to make Salsa to use with Corn Chips for dipping and Spaghetti sauce. Both are quite easy and don't take much time to fix. Then I freeze portions for later use.

I would do the thing with the mason jars but I was always afraid I would do it wrong and wind up poisoning myself:setf_050:

That's part of the reason that I prefer to freeze must of my veg. I only can jelly and jams.
