WoW !! I love looking at those pink, warty Squash !! What di you do @Daniel W to grow them that big !!
Daniel— unusual-looking squashes, mate. The toms though look superb. It does my heart good to see your harvest. Chapeau. …….and that wagon, oh my word. It brings back memories of my childhood. I so enjoyed being pulled around in my one. The sounds, the jostling, the feeling. I liked it so much that when the adults were tired of pulling me around, I would just sit in it and play games. Your one looks much better than my old red one.
Zigs— oh my word ! That is a gorgeous thing to behold. Do you eat them right away or freeze them in or something? Yeah, that is a stunning specimen. Chapeau. Good idea to at least let some of them ripen further. I like to have some frozen in different stages. I do that for the flavour variety. Actually I wonder if that yellow Bell will ever turn red. I will watch this spot. Waaaaay, I am jealous, mate.
Ta Sjoerd and Pac Got about 16 of them so Tetters will freeze them. I'm planning on digging up a few plants to take in and overwinter. Give them a head start next year. Incidentally, when I potted them up, I put 2 of them in bigger pots than the rest. When I planted them out, these two did much better than the ones in smaller pots. They're about 2 months ahead at the moment so I'll see if any turn red before the frost come
Zigs— good luck with those. I am interested how they will fare over the winter, and then be re-planted next season. I do not grow them often, but I am always interested in tips.
Thanks Sjoerd. Those squashes are a French heirloom type. Galeux d'Eysine. The flavor is my favorite. I've been saving seeds from them every season for about 20 years. The wagon is a life saver. So helpful. So much easier than a wheel barrow. A tire went flat last month. I ordered new ones that are filled with a rubber foam, never need air or go flat. They work great. When my previous dog was too arthritic to go for long walks, I put him on a soft comforter, in the wagon, and took him for walks. He seemed to enjoy that quite a lot. If you ever came here, I would offer you a wagon ride. I still need to make that last batch of salsa from those tomatoes. Too many appointments today. Maybe tomorrow.
