Rain is forecast for the next few days, so I'm, glad I got the jobs in the garden done yesterday.
I'll have to do a bit of shopping sometime today. That task came up on a US based audio message board yesterday. A contributor said he'd recently been into a Lowes home improvement superstore and had been approached in one of the aisles by someone trying to get him to change his electricity supplier. Other contributors then mentioned, they'd been similarly approached in other stores by people offering double glazing and all sorts of other stuff.
It would appear that big stores are allowing companies to have their representatives inside their stores, selling services.
I hope that trend doesn't start here. It's bad enough them stopping you in the street.

Netty good to hear your well is filling with water. We have same issue in summer. When the rains are not as high in winter/ spring and with the climate change . The unusual hot temps in summer and little rain causes the water table underground to drop and the well takes longer to fill. Less water is available and often I find myself out checking the pumps. Especially last summer when I had everything power washed. Getting the green moss and lichens off of everything that doesn’t move . Water usage constantly during a total day can stress the system and cause pump issues from the well. It’s all electric and can be a bit over taxed at times.

At Costco, several times people have stopped me being "friendly", and it turned out they were trying to sell me cellular telephone services. It feels rude to brush off people but they are persistent and I don't want their service. Plus it's rude to stop me on my way, especially with fake friendliness.

Today I took four bags of groceries to the county food bank. Nutritious stuff with good "bang for the buck", not chips and cookies etc. Canned tuna and canned chicken, dry milk, lots of various types of canned beans and canned chili. Some packages of milk powder, tortillas, and eggs (genetic were $1.25 a dozen at that store).

I think about, if I was unable to buy decent food, would anybody help me? If I don't give help, why would I think anyone would help me?

Anyway, the parking lot at the food bank was packed. Not a single space open. Cars driving around.

The guy working at the loading dock said I made great choices, and thanked me. It was also nice, I had to wait for another car to leave, and another followed me, with some food to give. But it feels like such a drop on the bucket...

Meanwhile back at home, yesterday I had given another bag of apples to another neighbor. They surprised me today with some fresh home made muffins! I was chuffed to bits about that.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 7°C and clear. Finally a day of sunshine ahead!
Off to work, where today is the day I put the rose garden to bed. I cut them back and then mound up the roots with soil or mulch to protect from the cold winter winds.
Gettting down to the nitty gritty jobs, the last of the season.
Have a great day all :)

I can see that practice spreading to UK stores. Here, companies require a licence from the local authority to approach people in precincts. If the stores charge these firms less than that of a licence to accost people on their premises, it could happen.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 6°C and overcast. We have rain in the forecast today.
Just a few more garden jobs to finish up at work, and then helping with some maintenance department jobs. Then it will all be over for another year. I'm amazed at how fast the season went this year! My Mother always told me that the older you are, the faster the time goes and she was completely right!
Have a great day all :)

I have two wind up clocks I am letting wind down, then I will reset them. that way I don't have to move the hands backwards.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently just 3°C and overcast with north winds. Brrr, it feels like -3!
This may be my last day of work, we will see how much I get done today. Weatherman says we will be getting our first snow this weekend, so that definitely signals the end of gardening season. My next jobs at home are going to be putting the plow on the Kubota and getting out the snow blower.
Then its time for winter hibernation haha
Have a great day all :)

@Netty in southern Ontario… Garden season is nearly over here in the PNW too. Snow season is next, the skiing season will be opening soon. That’s one of the great perks living here. We have summer water skiing, water kite sports and snow ski season in winter.

Take care getting the plow on the truck . And you have a great day too.
Hope you enjoy your winter break from garden work. :smt041

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast. We are under a special weather statement because our first snow storm of the season is on the way! I noticed that the Township brined our roads yesterday in preparation for the storm, and now we have to wait patiently until it begins. I'm ready for it, I put the plow on the Kubota, got out and ran the snowblower, and pulled out the snow shovels. I have lots of food and drink (and beer! ha!)
Lots of cleanup to do inside today, as well as in the garage.
The puppy should be fun as this is her first snowfall.
Have a great day all :)
