We were told by our electric and gas supplier (the same for both) that our meters are due for a replacement, they said that they are putting in smart meters, hubby has always been against having them but he's got no choice now, having it done on Friday.

Yes same here @Logan we were always against them too but had to give in last July........still abit usure of the way they gauge our usage, but are monitoring it very closely .

Walking hasn't helped me in regards to protecting me from Osteoporosis unfortunately. ☹️
I have always been a good daily walker , had to be!! ...especially due to living here for the last 43years.. It was a long walk to our nearest schools and shops.....and then working in Childcare for 27 years double pushchairs were large and heavy ,unlike the modern ones of today and couldn't be taken on public transport.

Even this year since April , and only monitored on days out away from the house, I have continued and have walked 389.78 miles....not bad on a recovering knee. Despite trying all I can to boost my bone density and taking prescribed meds all Dexa scans have showed no improvement...if fact it's in my hips now. I also use to cycle a fair bit too but am still experiencing difficulties at the moment. :(

It may depend on your energy supplier.

We are with British Gas for both Gas and Electricity. I got so many e-mails and letters from them telling me my meters need to be changed that I threatened them with moving to a different supplier. They quickly apologised and gave me £40 in compensation for the inconvenience and said that they would make sure I wouldn't get any more.

The e-mails actually haven't stopped. But I think that they are "auto-generated" by their computer, sending them to anyone every few months, who isn't on a smart meter.
    I'm just ignoring them.
I'm quite happy posting the readings on their website once a month. It takes about a couple of minutes to read the meters and type in the figures. It's all automatic at their end. I can later log into my account if I want to see what is my usage and how much is my credit balance
The reason why they want people on smart meters is that they are under pressure from the government to make it happen.

You will continue to regain mobility and hopefully now little pain . Just keep it movin back to a better quality of life. I am so proud of you. Thanks Pac ...not sure about walking like a pro though, but I am gradually picking up my pace. :D:like:
I was stubbornly determined that a new knee was not going to stop me from enjoying our lifestyle and walks + I knew that if I eased too much it would prove a struggle to regain full movement after the surgery...as the old sayings say ...' if you ease ,you cease' and 'if you don't use it you lose it '. How very true they are too, if we have a really bad wet/ cold day and I don't get a good walk or a session in the garden my joints turn to cement!!
I was given the advice about monitoring my mobility( after the first 8 weeks post surgery) by my Consultant as a means of building up my strength, confidence whilst giving me the encouragement that I will get there in the end. I do however still have issues and am currently being investigated for nerve damage in my foot and calf . I had an horrendous attack of sciatica down my right side ,the only time this has happened as it's normally my left sde, 4 years ago and it never fully recovered but since the surgery it's really played up again and also effects my back. Hey ho ...thats life ,keeps us motivated to keep on chugging along the best we can.
My life is good, heard today of a friend who has died from MND.

Oreti it does take almost 2-3 years to settle in with a joint replacement. The brain also has to make new pathways for the acceptance and translation of the new components which takes practice and something you have in spades that’s determination. It depends on other health factors also to deliver a successful rehab experience. Such as other health issues as bone density, joint weakness and back joint issues .
    .
I will keep you in my prayers. I want to encourage you to continue along your journey to wellness. Hang in there , this to will be better in time. There is a new ‘Normal’ coming for you soon.
