Not a lot really, yesterday I went to a big GC out of town and bought some seeds in readiness for sowing next Spring.
Today I am just about to start on more leaf clearing before taking the afternoon off to meet up with a friend for a coffee and cake catch up.:D

    That it is !! :smt044

The best way to cook it is to dip it in egg, then breading and deep fry it. It looses it's slimeiness that way. That's the way it's eaten where I live.

Nothing much today, but I want to jet-wash the patio and the drive on Friday and Saturday, as the weather should be OK.

I'll have to move the three wooden troughs and about a dozen or so pots and put them all on the small patio behind the shed. I'll also give the hedgehog feeder a good clean and put that in the garage until next year.
I've taken in the trail/cams, taken the batteries out and put them away. They're rechargeable lithium batteries, which cost "an arm and a leg," so they need looking after if I want to use the cameras again next year.

Most everything in my yard is either salvaged or I built myself. That to me is just as rewarding as growing stuff.

Great job JD. :smt023 It’s a lot of fun to repurpose objects found.

What treatment do u use to keep wood furniture outdoors. Wood varnish like polyurethane/ shellac? I just oil the wood pieces I have outdoors, these pieces are kept on a covered patio as well all year long. Protection from UV light and all types of weather. I discovered them in an antique shop.

Today I planted out some more parsnips, about 25 seeds. I did what @Zigs had said to do and laid out a bunch of seeds on a wet paper towel and put them in a plastic bag. That was about two weeks ago and of about 80-90 seeds, 25 germinated. Thanks Ziggy !! :setf_016:

I've been using this for about forty years on my summerhouse and two pergolas.
No rot at all. Mind you, they have had many re-coats over the years, despite the fact that 2.5ltrs is around £70.

Today I raked and hauled 3 more wagon loads of leaves. I decided to stop, then rain started.

The leaf pile is growing a bit every day. I think that soon, it will be enough. Then I can either start digging out raised beds to install mole screens, or start major pruning jobs.

I will remove about half of the fig trees, and several apple trees. I'll take out the unproductive ones. I really don't need so many, and they are too much work. I have ten fig trees, the result of over-enthusiastic collecting cuttings and growing them.

About four weeks ago, the eight hens were laying zero or one egg daily, total. I got the light timer working again, so they get 14 hours of light daily. Yesterday there were six eggs, the biggest one-day yield so far.
