I often read that some of the things I plant will attract hummingbirds. My neighbor does the same. She says she always sees them at her flowers. In my entire life I have never seen a hummingbird. I mean that literally. Maybe I look like their natural enemy. I mean...I don't have a hawkish nose, I am certainly not as wise as an owl, and, I doubt if my fat ass can slither around like a snake.
I used to put out feeders. I had three or four at a time. The birds would decimate them in a few days. All kinds of birds. IDK, maybe some were Hummingbirds, but never saw anything hover. We have a lot of Blue Jays and crows so maybe they bully other birds. But I'm talking about flowers, I never once saw a bird hovering by my flowers. And by the way, why wouldn't I heed your advice Annie, you are one of the most knowledgeable people here. It amazes me how much some of you people know so much about plants and critters.
Hummers don't eat seeds, they eat nectar from flowers so, you need this: This has a camera that send pics to your phone
@Jersey Devil Hang it in the shade by a window and you can watch them hover and feed. If you don't have shade near a window or don't want to hang it off the house you can get the camera one and hang that in the shade under a tree for them. Right now they've gone south but they'll be back in spring. The camera one you could ask Santa for it for Christmas.

I wish we had Hummingbirds over here ,they are so beautiful and dainty looking. I would love to have them in our garden.
In early spring @JD put out hummingbird mixture of 4part water - 1 part cup of sugar. Place around your yard start with 2 or 3 feeders with red bottom per above pics. I guarantee you will see them within a week as they all start to set up housekeeping in your garden. All the hanging baskets you have will do for tubular type flowers too. I’m surprised you have never seen one in your garden. @Oreti … hummingbirds are a backyard buddy here. Always popping in to remind me to refill the feeders.
