I learned, when I was in high school, working at a submarine sandwich shop, how to curse in Greek. Katina, the Greek lady, kept calling George, the greek guy, certain words so, one day I asked her what they meant.

Not to be repeated here but when, and if, I ever do use those words, I smile. Those words are very appropriate as retorts when a Southerner says to you: "Well Bless your Heart ". :p
I tell them it's Greek for "Bless your heart too."

    Hello Dan.
Everything in your garden is looking good, including your two assistants, (ducks). Thank you for mentioning me. Yes I had some heart surgery around August 2024, new aortic valve and four coronary stents. New valve is expected to last some ten yrs. Today 28/12/25 is my birthday, 68 years plus nine months invitro development. So time to speculate and share interests with you and our friends.

If it's OK with Frank. I will start a new thread or whatever, Mike's Roses.

Correction: 68 years should read 86years:);););)

Anniekay. Sorry to hear about your friends experience. Actually my surgery was all done by wires, and I was conscious or semi conscious all the time and watching the procedure on a screen.

I will give more details, if anyone is interested.

So am I, despite having been a traffic cop in the 60's. I can't stand the sight blood, however with this procedure I never saw even a slight stained dressing. Incidentally I was asymptomatic regarding my heart condition.

You were a traffic cop in the 60's? You sure it was your 68th birthday yesterday Mike? :suspicious: :D

So! into another year. I've just ordered a few more roses. ''More roses'' my daughter asks,

I am increasing my collection of Renaissance roses. Latest order: Amy. Bridget. Helena. Julia. Mary. Philipa. Raquel. All bred by Poulsen of Denmark.

    Thanks Dan.

A bit of nostalgia or whatever. Both Valerie (my late wife) and I always had a love for roses. Our favourite was, Ena Harkness. Sadly the bloom had a weak neck that caused it to look down. A feature of Val's, portraying that childish shy look. I attempted to apply individual features of roses to Val's, looks, personalities etc. O'h dear! So often something was missing. Scent, perfume, fragrance smell. So my task in the garden is to, perhaps reduce the roses that don't smell favourably and go for STRONG Fragrancies.
