Tetters is right, not a popular tree on account of the fruit being rock hard until the frost gets them. You can eat them after that as they go...
Cacti are funny like that. You can pot them up and treat them right for years and they won't flower, but cut them in half and leave them in a shed...

Might need pruning, if apples don't get pruned they can revert to biennial fruiting. The ones we pick from in the hedgerow hardly had any on this...
