Here are my August Lilies, this is the first year that they have come up and bloomed, they are beautiful! Do they spread like Irises? If so I am going to have a mess of them next year, and can someone show me a picture of what a moonflower looks like when it starts to bud? I have a bud on my vine in the livingroom window and I don't think it is a morning glory, it is my fondest wish to get at least one moonflower bud on that vine. amaryllis belledonna ( photo / image / picture from gardennut's Garden )

They are Naked Lily. I had about 70 of them a few years ago. I just love them. They grew a little new leaves the first year, then never grew again. To propagate them, in last Summer, you can cut then from top to bottom into 16 wedges, keeping a small portion of the bottom center root structure attached to each section. Wash and dry for a day, clean dried outside skin and keep all clean. After cutting let set out a day and then plant in shallow pot. You will see new shoots quickly. The reason I don't have them anymore is because I am right at the edge of their happy zone. It was years back and I didn't have the energy to take them in for Winter. Sometimes they live in our mild Winters but that wasn't the case in lost Winter. :'(
I think you have Lycoris squamigera, hardy to Z5. Amaryllis blooms have sharper points on the petals, and usually only said to be hardy to Z7. Lycoris bulbs do make baby bulbs that grow to mature size in a few years, eventually forming patches. Moonflower vines can be very late bloomers, don't give up hope yet!
