Exterior walls are cement cavity blocks which were drilled and pumped with insulation,..the attic was also insulated,..to replace exterior doors,..to replace windows,..new ventilation added,..interior and exterior painted.

There is a wood burning stove which heats the water and rads but i seldom use it as i have a Kerosene heater which does not smell and only uses 2 euro per day,..it heats the house very well.

It is indeed a beautiful place, the interior, the exterior and the surroundings. Love it.

What a lift the new colour on the exterior walls give - so fresh and such a bonnie colour. I hope you feel the benefit of the insulation Philip and that you find your heating bills dropping. The interior of your home looks so comfortable - just the kind of home I like myself. :-D

The new colors are so warm and how nice to have that beautiful park so close. Love the nooks built into the walls.

You are as good at interior decorating (and exterior, too) as you are at gardening :smt038 ! Lovely home in a lovely setting.

I too like the new exterior color. And I really like that brick terra cotta wall! Good job! Now that all that work it done, it's time to take Molly out for a walk :-D

Great job, Philip. I think you chose great colors. How do you like it after a few weeks? still as much? I am always afraid to change anything too much as I don't want to do it again if I don't like it in a few weeks or months from the work date. I tend to leave something for a decade or more if I can once it is done since I like it the way it is. It took me a long time to paint the walls from their original color until the pictures from family photos looked so bad and I realized it was the color of the room more than anything else.

Thank you folks you are all very kind with your comments and praises,..seeing i live on my own,..(well with the exception of a tribe of cats,..the count at present is 8 cats and one dog),..there are no arguments or even discussions about colour selection so what ever choice i make i have to live with it,..so i was careful and felt comfortable with my choice,..remembering its a "Man Cave",..it has to look comfortable and still be not too feminine ;) ,..i really am pleased with the outcome of the painting and the heat in house has increased and so the cats stay at home longer.

I purchased two mood LED remote control lights,..they use the power of a 3volt battery and so easy on electricity,..depending on my mood it looks as below.
