it is the first Christmas day here and we are going to spoil ourselves rotten. Up late this morning and then reading the newspapers on the tablet over tea. Then there was talk about the day and coming big meal....an order of events and a time schedule and of course brunch. We set the radio on the dutch channel and listened to the annual best speech in the past year. There were examples from various countries. After the brunch, we bathed and I pulled on my Santa hat...ready to begin with the meal prep. You know these, right? Very cheerful. I have a red plastic ball nose here somewhere. We put the streamer on Folk Alley and began with the pudding— a chocolate one and a vanilla one. We made enough for a couple of days. So now we are doing the big crossword puzzel, listening to the music and chatting- away. The tea and oliebollen are ready and so now I shall take a break. I need to pop down to the shed and bring up some spuds. Seeya in a bit for the supper time.
The preparation of the meal itself did not go as planned...once I began with soussing, there was no time to take a break and post the stages. Oh well. Here are a few pics from that time, and the final stage. First to process the spuds... Then to make the layers and chuck it into the air fryer. While the gratin was cooking time to go fishing... Finally...time to tuck in. ...and then, to cap it all off— pudding. Thanks for spending the day with us. The Bride and I want to wish you all the best, happiest and safest of holidays.
Your meals are fantastic, and the presentation is, too! I hope you and your bride enjoyed every bite, and have many tasty things coming your way in the New Year.
Oh Mart, would that I could, for it is really delicious. Jane, thanks so much . We enjoyed it so much. It was just us two this year, but we had music, and that wonderful food.
Thanks for including us in you Christmas Day Sj! Your tea and your dinner looked delicious. I love salmon. And that pudding is beautiful!
We were looking at all that delicious food and wishing we were there sharing it with you. Licking the screen didn't work.
Eileen, if licking the screen to taste Sjoerd and his wife's food worked, we'd all weigh a whole lot more!
You are welcome Cayu. We lurve salmon too, we do not eat it often and so it stays special. Glad you liked the looks of that pudding, felt like it was a real accomplishment. I mean the Bride made it but I did the stirring. Once I started stirring; while the pudding was still milk form, i did not stop until it was in the water bath and lumps were avoided. Ha ha...boy that continuous stirring can let one’s arms feel quite tired. Luckily I can do many things with either hand, so I switched back and forth. I had no idea that cooking was so strenuous. Eileen that licking the screen for flavour doesn’t work now, but in the future. Who knows...technology is a wonderful thing. Chortle Jane, you have such a clear way of expressing yourself.
