Whilst hubby is glued to the TV watching the Daytona 500... I've been outside going through stuff out in the garage. My mom had this old vanity stool forever and I tucked it away to use as a plant stand. old vanity stool ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) And then I ran across this planter/saucer a friend gave me a while back. And that ol' light bulb flicked on over my head (yep... just like in the cartoons ) So I grabbed a can of spray paint.. and now my little feathered friends have a bird bath. bird bath ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
I hope the birds appreciate having a lovely bathroom! That is a great idea, and as usual, you have turned someone else's trash into a delight.
What a great idea, the birds will really get a lot of use from that. Being deeper than usual birdbaths you will find some of the larger birds enjoying themselves too.
The rock will be fine, I have two in one of the birdbaths so the bees and butterflies can sip without falling in. And the sparrows, wrens and finches will use it too. The larger birds, if they notice them, will stand on them.
Cheryl what a great idea for that old vanity stool. The birds will be able to perch on the back, sit on the rock, take a bath and have a drink. :-D What could be more perfect for our feathered friends? I love it!!
Your birdbath is fine, you can experiment with the setup to see what works best. Just about every form of wildlife uses the backyard birdbath. They soon adapt to what is there, I have even seen birds do "touch and gos" to get wet. In the summer I have to clean ours out every other day as some birds soften their bread and don't take it all with them when they leave. Even hawks cool their feet on hot days. Jerry
You did such a nice job with that chair, Cheryl. It looks like a good idea for a birdbath. I hope that you get lots of visitors.
Thanks all. I placed it near the bird feeders and a bird house in the hope that someone would like to take advantage of it. We've even come up with a name for that corner of the yard... the 4Bs. Bird buffet bed & bath
Splendid name for it Cheryl! Well thought up, and well executed too. I hope the birds will be grateful.
Oh how cute it that! I love it. If I were a bird, that's just where I would go. They'll be around soon enough! Really a good idea and adorable.
Thanks everyone. Maybe I'll have to put up signs around the bird feeder letting them know that the bath is open for business!
