Like most gardeners, I keep a close eye on the weather. Yesterday we saw that freezing weather is coming our way. This means that I had to get into action and protect my new strawb plants. It was getting colder by the minute when we headed out to the lottie. Burrrr. We placed a couple of layers of fleece over the two beds. Well, this about the early birds in the lottie, so here are a couple of beginners. Bluebells: And more Daffs—They are popping up everywhere: Now then, this last foto has no photographic value but it shows the absolute last summer bloomer, the Hesperantha coccinea. What a value-for-money this one is…annnnd it was a gift from a fellow gardener on the complex a couple of years ago. He was chopping off bits off his stand. I had admired them for some time and hastily said, “Yes”! Well the cold weather has come and folks are skating outside. Olé ! p.s. we picked up some free seeding trays at the exchange table by the clubhouse. Perhaps we can now get rid of those heavy ones that we picked up at Appeltern gardens that we and our visiting guests went to see a few years ago. https://appeltern.nl/en/
Isn't that beautiful to see new life popping up and a lingering flower. Wonderful photos Sjoerd. Will your spring early birds do okay with the cold weather? That fleece looks like a real savior.

The only early birds here are the weeping cherry trees are all in bud…pink buds dripping along with the rain drops that look like rhinestones dripping from everywhere on the trees with the sun out it’s a real sparkling / glittering scene.
