This was on a client's counter when I arrived yesterday.

    Have you ever??

Maybe this kind of gourd is familiar to you. I, personally, have never seen one anything like it!! Fascinating!

    Well, I nevvuh!

That is the most unusual gourd that I have EVVUH seen.

I can't really grow most gourd types here because of our short and moist season, but I am curious to know the name of that thing.

Dry it out and paint it up and you have a great garden deterrent for people and pests.

I'd have been afraid to get near it!

Well I never. What a cool gourd!! I'd do as Cheryl says and paint it up and put it into your garden. It's bound to keep the pests away. :-D

My seed catalog has them. Their's are called Polo and obviously a snake gourd. Certainly nothing I would be planting!

OK toni, done. I got some message about the image needing to be reviewed, but as far as I could tell, it uploaded just fine. Let me know if you want me to do anything else.

And yes, it has to be the strangest gourd I've ever seen. When I first noticed it, as I was walking into the kitchen, for just a second I honestly thought there was a snake on the counter!

I know nothing about gourds or how to preserve them, but I'm going to ask that client if I can have it when she's done with it, and then will you all help me figure out how to dry it etc?

Gave me chills. If they were in my garden, I would be the one staying out.
