But he isn't Hermans, he is ours! We have inherited a 5 year old Hermans tortoise from our cousin who could no longer offer him a decent home as he has moved into his own place, but it is a flat, and so no access to a garden. So, hoorah! We have Travis the tortoise. I have read the books and googled like mad as we have never owned a tortoise before, but any advice any of you could give me would be great. I have photos but have to download and resize them and it is my beddy byes time so I will do that tomorrow. In the meantime, looking forward to any advice at all.
i know they should be going into hibernation relatively soon and it is a risky thing for them, a friend of ours bred them but cant recall much about them other than the heat level in the nursery can determine the gender of the baby tortoise!
Sounds like an awesome pet! I found these two sites that seem to have some good info on their care. Please keep us posted on your adventures with your new pet. www.tortoise.org http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/c ... rmanns.htm
