IMG_3491.jpeg This past weekend, a pair of Doves chose our porch to build their nest. It was a flurry of activity with the male flying back and forth with sticks for two days. Now the female seems to have settled in. I don’t think there are eggs, but I could be wrong. We’re trying to give her space and keep the porch quiet for her. We can use two other doors to go out.
I’m amazed at how this nest is put together, it’s pretty flimsy looking
I hope all goes well and we get to see some little fledglings.

When birds (be they of any type) build a nest anywhere on your property. It's considered as a blessing which attracts good fortune in my culture.

The doves do that here as well in our neighbourhood. I wonder how Larry and his bride are doing. I see less of them now that their brooding season has begun,
    Great foto.

Nice foto of the swallows, Pac.

Sjoerd Thank you. I never cau get a pic of the resident hawks that have lived up in the 100’ Douglas fir trees . They were here before I was. The do help out with the ground critters. When mowing the fields they follow me as the tractor seems to move the moles and voles about , an easy catch for lunch .

I can see it better in that pic. They are an attractive bird, aren’t they.

Yes very pretty birds and huge . Many generations have been from these two mates and they have a beautiful spirit. I guess you could say we have a buddy system while mowing the pastures. I mow they hunt what is kicked up by the tractor. I can hear their screech over the motor. Very intimidating when hunting. They don’t seem to bother the other birds like the jays who are the meanies and terrorize all the other smaller birds near by.
