Monday just as it was getting dark, I happened to look out the front window and there was a small owl perched on a limb in the tree. He was only about 6 inches tall, so had to be s screech owl. Some black birds came up and was flying at him and he took off. It was way too dark to get any pictures. The only reason I could see him was that he was outlined by the lichter sky that hadn't turned dark yet. I will have to keep my eyes peeled for him in the day time.
Owls are one of my all time favourite birds. We have a small owl here in Scotland aptly named the 'Little Owl.' It's only about the size of one of our blackbirds. I hope you manage to get a shot of your owl as I'd love to see it.
We have an owl that serenades us in the evening and I have several pictures taken during the late afternoon. Fascinating creatures, especially if you locate their roosting site. You can then sometimes identify what they had for supper. Jerry
Oh, I wish we had an owl! Screech owls are one of the best, right up there with barn owls! How lucky you are Captain--probably because of all those lovely trees you have for shelter. I hope he stays around your place.
