    The earliest of the peonies are starting to bloom. These are the species peonies.

    Paeonia Tenufolia... Fern leaved peony:

    Paoenia obavata, Japanese Woodland peony, one of the only peonies to grow in shade (now that's MY kind of peony!):

    Gorgeous peony's-- I especially like the simple ones the best...they are like exotic goblets.

    Yes @Odif the fern leaf peony is just getting to blooming size. I think it will look better and better as it matures.

    Thanks Jewell. I have discovered that if I pick them while still in bud, they last a long time in the vase.

    Gosh meid---even more lovelies to look at today. I am enthralled.
    You know I sometimes wish that we had such a lovely large house and garden room. Room for so many more flowers than I currently have room for. You have done a splendid job. Chapeau!
