I put several of these in the ground back in May, they were seedlings about 6 inches tall. A couple of them bloomed a couple of weeks later with the tiniest little flowers. Then they spent June, July, August, Sept and half of October getting taller and bushier. Last week I noticed several buds forming on all of them, then Wed these two blooms opened up and have steadily gotten larger. We are supposed to have another cold front move thru Sunday night and at first I was worried that we might not have enough warm weather left for all the blooms to open. But I think they like this weather just fine, all the other buds are getting larger and there are more ready to open.
Oh how pretty Toni!! I'm so glad that they're flowering for you now an it must cheer you up to see such a lovely colour in your garden.
Ah, lovely colour! Thank you for showing those. I'm suffering from colour withdrawal and will soak up everything you post.
Oh how pretty! Toni I've had a couple of good frosts and my Cosmos are still going strong. They are tough plants!
That's the kind of stubborness I'd like to have to suffer with. Those are very pretty, Toni. I especially like Cosmea plants and blooms. I haven't had many for a few years now. Perhaps it is time to plant some again next year. Hmmmmmmm....wonder where would be a good spot.
Glad the color starved among us enjoyed the pickmeup. This is my first year for the purple ones, I have the golden yellow ones out back that have been reseeding themselves for a few years. There are three plants out front that are covered in buds, I think they might all be the purple color but the seed packet was a mixture of about 4 colors so I won't know for sure until they open. I figured the weather this month had tricked them into thinking it is spring and making them bloom now.
I love Cosmos...all the colors and especially the white ones..Beautiful picture..I have some blooming yet in my yard and we have had a lot of frost and down in the 20's tonight. Last weekend I threw out my hanging geranium plants...they still looked great but I knew the cold is coming to stay..Leave them go to seed, the finches love them.
