Thanks @Frank I clean out my email folders at least twice a week, but never had anything related to GS in either of them. Thanks for your advice though.
Picked the last few decent ones of last year's cabbages today, they're starting to bolt so I left the rest to go to seed.
Here are some Akane apples, Orcas pears, and various Asian pears. I picked them yesterday and today I took them to the food bank. Also, my first harvest of sauce tomatoes. If I'm up to it, I will can salsa tomorrow. There were two bins of tomatoes, and still some on the plants.
Daniel everything you grow is just as beautiful, healthy and looks delicious as ever. now time to process and get out those seasonal cooking habits , set the table and enjoy the harvest of all your hard work.
Very nice, healthy produce @Daniel W . I make salsa with slicing tomatoes. I don't really like tomato sauce much so, I make one batch from regular slicing tomatoes and that's it. I eat Spaghetti with butter, garlic grated cheese and parsley. I don't even really care for tomato soup, unless it's tomato bisque.
I agree I find tomato’s are great in some dishes fresh tomatoes with bacon sandwiches, tacos, & hamburger delights, but a bit too spicy / too much acid in sauces for my tummy as I age. I too like Alfredo sauce with - butter, garlic, milk , cream cheese , sour cream with real parm cheese grated toppings. Fresh salads with tomatoes ,cheese squares , parsley, cukes, melons etc. candied almonds or whatever nuts . Who needs dressings the fresh flaves are good alone.
Daniel— those apples and toms are super. You’ve got talent, don’t cha mate. BTW— what type were those salsa toms again? They look very healthy without disease, blossom end rot or green collar.
Here's what I did today with a those sauce tomatoes. Canned salsa! I use it on omelets, mostly. I think there are enough tomatoes for two more batches. @Sjoerd those were supposed to be Roma II, but the true Romas are smaller and more pear shaped. So I'm not certain! I've grown a few hybrids in the past, all determinate types. So maybe one of those. I thought this year might be a bit of a bust in the kitchen garden. Instead, it's been very rewarding. I couldn't be more pleased with it. Lots of nice garlic, onions, Chinese chives, sauce tomatoes, various squashes & zucchinis, apples, peaches, plums, berries, figs, on and on. I'm very happy with it.
Oreti— oh my word! How very lovely those are. Those are beauties…the courgettes as well. Marvelous. Daniel— You are having a cornucopia of good luck after all. Those jars of salsa are testament to that….but all the other fruit and veg that you mentioned. Fantastic, mate. Good harvests make it all worth it, doesn’t it. Chapeau, my friend. Thanks for mentioning the Roma’s. They looked like the Roma2’s. We have tried several types of Romas, San Marzanos and that sort. We used them for years, but now they get the green collar so badly that the amount that we can pot-up is seriously diminished. Yours look splendid.
