We have a little ice, and this is what is happening in areas that have some ice. It is a big thing, as it is the first ice of the season.
We took more leaves out to the Lottie today and noticed that the water was frozen in the canals and water butts.

It is a bit worrisome because little naer-do-wells sometimes cross the ice and destroy things on the complex.

What kind of naer-do-wells have you? @Sjoerd .

Something dug around in my spinach bed. I don't know what but it disturbed a few spinach seedlings. I do have a grey tiger striped cat that has suddenly appeared in the neighborhood. He climbs my fence and when I call "here kitty, kitty'' he stops, stands dead still and stares at me. Doesn't really look cuddly or friendly at all. I suspect it may be he who is messing around in my spinach bed. :(

You need a game camera. Whenever it detects motion it takes a picture. Then you'll have evidence for prosecution !!

We have not had frozen canals for years. I had a trail camera, but it is over and out.

@Sjoerd sorry to hear about the icey canal. Anniekay has a good suggestion to snare vandals.

I have trail and security system to protect our property, I will add that my trail cams and 12 outdoor / indoor cams posted inside/outside on roof survey property 24/7 . It’s as simple as checking my iPhone for each area showing live pics that are positioned around the property. This security system has been a handy tool to eliminate all the animal / human vandals around here. And you know my story all Too Well. It’s literally a zoo around here until I started doing daily checks of the entire area. Tracking foot prints every day. I was almost run over by a herd of a Proghorn stampede last month in the middle of day, very unexpected adventure.

I remember a few seasons ago kids were out vandalizing cars parked in driveways/ breaking in garages . This was during the school holiday break. It was a snowy winter and the security cams helped ID the culprits and the direction they came from . We followed the human foot prints left in the snow straight to the vandals home who were stealing property who were breaking into cars & garages. We also installed a garage door security alarm system also iPhone view and warning sent to iPhone if doors are opened at any time. Maybe a cam on the roof of the greenhouse will do , one that tracks motion . No electricity ? There are Cams that use batteries or cams that have usb cords to recharge with small portable battery on site.

Maybe think about a security system that will protect your plot & surrounding area and save a few ‘bucks’ - not the kind that eats gardens , but the kind that saves cash in the long run.

    Geezz sorry so long winded…

Hmm, I wonder if you need an M41A pulse rifle. Ten millimeter with over-and-under thirty millimeter pump action grenade launcher :setc_008:
