I watch Brian Norcross' forecasts because he was, when we had Hurricane Andrew, the only voice in the darkness of that storm and he was much appreciated by everyone. It's terrifying not to have any radio or tv but he was in an auxillary station protected by the highway overpasses and ran off generator power. Howling winds, creaking roof sounds and Brian's calm voice of reassurance !! He says that Humberto is going to steer north like the one headed for Spain is doing. We'll have to see.
I have heard the sound of a freight train crossing over a family members home while visiting Florida a few years ago. Remind me to never visit Florida during hurricane season. A branch tore thru the roof and lots of loge pole pine tree fell across the property. Next morning sounds of chainsaws running thru the neighborhood along with neighbors placing tarps and securing them over roof tops. I always worry about trees falling on my home from the woods next door. The wind storms and heavily weighted ice storms can bring down 100’ trees . Every once in awhile during snow storms I can hear the screams of these 100’ Doug fir tree falling and hitting the ground with a quiet boom. As the snow fall on the surrounding landscape seems to muffle the sounds. It’s soo incredibly quiet outside after a snow fall.

Just noticed that we've had a recent shower. Hadn't looked at our forecast for today so I was pleasantly surprised. I have been busy doing downstairs house work this morning and only became aware of it when it came over dark and I had to turn on the lights.

What a beautiful afternoon we've had ,blue skies and sunshine...and it felt really warm working outside. Still lovely out there now.
Thanks Pac, on the whole we're still pretty green here compared to over your way but I'm definitely beginning to notice some subtle changes in this last week. Once they get going I'll post some pics on your thread.
