I have two hives, and now I know where they hang out all day! I had to clean out and repair the bird bath a few weeks ago (developed a leak). In order to do it, I had to set up a shallow alternate bath for the bees, because they were so disappointed. :) Now their water source is back up and running, and they are obviously pleased.

We have honey bees that love visiting the edges of our pond. They belong to a neighbour and they are welcome in our garden any time.

While I was swimming today a small bird kept skimming over the pool, dipping down for a drink? or a bath?....I couldn't tell because I wasn't wearing my glasses!! He did it probably five times before flying off.

We have swallows here that do that. They are hunting for tiny insects that fly just above the surface of the water.
