Woolly bear predicts a mild winter for southern New England!
(sorry, I didn't have my camera with me)

According to old farmer folklore, a broad orange section on the September woolly bear means the coming winter will be a mild one; less orange and more black means a rough winter.
I wonder if the color-coded caterpillar is telling the truth...
    Anyone else?

Madam, you are full of info. Wooly bears. That’s a good one.
Well, I hope that the prediction will come true for you.
We do not have those here.
    Cool posting.

Well, they don't predict the severity of winter, but they are an indication that winter is coming--Red Wing Blackbirds. We saw the first one at the feeder this week. By mid-November they will flock to the feeder, eating sunflower seeds and jockeying for position on the feeder.
It is a "oh good they are back/gardening season is going into pause for a couple of months" feeling. Mother Nature giveth and Mother Nature taketh away . . . .
