Great story behind the naming of this bird. Steller ( named the Steller sea lion) was looking for Lake Louise and asked a guy who had been there, how he would know when in the area. The guy said when you see a blue jay with dark blue head feathers you will be close. So he went looking for Steller's jay. They have come back to the deck, I didn't see any last winter so it's nice to have them around again.
