The GardenStew Mug has arrived. Also view "Mug"sho

    Hi all,

By popular request the GardenStew Mug is now available to order! I have tried to make the mug as customizable as possible and keep the price as low as I could. Zazzle.com is the website I used to handle the product ordering and physical creation / printing of the mug itself. They require that I add a minimum commission of 5% onto the price for myself but I will use this as store credit to offer future special prizes on GardenStew, that I promise you.

For reference here is the product link. However I urge you to read this post fully first before ordering.
    http://www.zazzle.com/gardenstew_mug-168061841095495796

You will be able to customise the mug to your own liking! Which means you can add a personalised image and text to a special side of the mug!

Here is what the basic mug looks like without customization. It's still pretty neat. The text reads "The friendliest gardening forum on the Web!"

And here is one I customized on the website for illustrative purposes. As you can see I added my own avatar and member name. (Note: the other side of the mug has the large logo image also as shown above!)

Here is how to customize your own mug:
Visit the product page and click the 'Customize It!' button:

You will then see the following two options appear on the right-hand side of the page after it refreshes.

Clicking 'Change image' allows you to upload an image of your choosing to replace the image on the customizable side of the mug. You may want to upload your GardenStew avatar but it's not necessary. Be careful not to upload any images that are too tiny or too wide / tall.

Next up click 'Change text' and edit the text to your liking. You can just enter your GardenStew member name or something else to your liking. Be careful not to enter a wall of text as this may appear on top of images when the mug is printed.

You can preview what your mug will look like by clicking any of the previews images below the main mug image.

If you want to see the mug image at a larger size click the following icon.

If you scroll down the page you will also see other mug / vessel variations that you can apply your customized design to. There are also colour options for some variations. Note: prices vary!

When you click 'Add to Cart' you may see the following error message. If the mug preview looked fine to you you can probably safely ignore this. However to be safe you can go back and choose a different image to add to your mug.

And that's how you customize your mug :stew1: After you add it to your cart the rest of the ordering process is just like any regular online store. Orders will be shipped from the US. Sincere apologies to those who order from outside the US for the increased delivery costs.
Final important note: Visit http://www.zazzle.com/coupons for any currently active coupons and save a few bucks!

Please post in this thread if you have any questions and also if you do get your hands on a mug maybe you can post a photo here so we can appreciate your design :)

You all are going to love it. This was a test run Frank had done just to see what the end product was actually like. It's easy to hold, dishwasher and microwave safe and the colors are very clear and bright.

Mine was also on the test run and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it's the most comfortable mug to hold and drink from. No-one else is allowed anywhere near it - after all it has my name on it. ;)

Let's start a "Mug Shot" thread! As we get our mugs, we can post a photo of them, with our own captions, avatars, etc.
Eileen, Toni, and Frank can be the first to post "Mug Shots."
(For those of you unfamiliar with American idiom, a mug shot is a photo the police take of suspects, felons, and other not-so-nice folks. No reflection on the mugs meant!)

Does anyone know how many pixels the picture can be? Too small or too large isn't really helpful to me, the most computer illiterate person on this site. I don't want to use my avatar as this picture isn't mine.... ...and the sale ends today, so I want to get it done if I can.thanks

Hi Carolyn, I would suggest a 100 pixel x 100 pixel as a minimum. The more square in dimensions the better. It seems to resize large images rather well. If you don't get any error messages and you are happy with the preview then you are good to go :stew1:

Regards the sale deadline, if you miss this one then check back again in a few days. It seems like they always have at least one active coupon at a time.

Carolyn... I just ordered mine and used an image that was 40 KB in size; around 3.5 inches (345 pixels) almost square with a resolution of 96pixels.
