Description: We "Kneed" To Know - The most widely know characteristic of cypress trees is their "knees". The biological function of cypress knees, however, is mostly undetermined. The knees are part of the root system that grows above the soil. Some folks reckon that knees supply oxygen to the tree's roots while anchoring and supporting the tree. Knees vary in height with some reported as tall as 12 feet.
