I am a very amateur gardener, and was wondering what to do about my tomato plants that are so heavy they are falling over and all but pulling their trellises out of the ground! I had a suggestion to cut some of the leaves off to eliminate some of the weight (I believe that was you, gardenmama?). The problem with that is, I don't even know where to start! The plants are so huge that I have no idea where to begin. Do I just get in there and start hacking away? Any help or advice would be spectacular and greatly appreciated.

start from the bottom leaves and continue until you have the top third left. Remove any suckers in between the main leaves. Good luck.

I would also make sure that the poles holding the plants up are in the ground at least a foot...does the raised bed have a bottom? or can you pound a pole deep into the ground.

ON some of the heavier plants you may want to use more then 1 pole. Some of mine are so full of fruit that I use 2 poles so that they don't fall.

Do you have any pictures you can post so that we can see how your plants are doing?

Well I'm envious. I wish I had your problem. I did not even do toms this year I've been so busy. I bet you can't wait to eat them!
