I would not ever have one as its just me and I don't bake that much .That is wonderful looking loaves of bread.Makes me want to grab the butter and a loaf and hide until its all gone
I would love to be able to reach into my computer and taste a slice of that delicious looking bread Bunkie. We make our own bread too - but not with solar power. I'm off to check the internet to see how easy it would be to install a solar oven here as my electric fan one is about ready to give up.
I don't have a solar oven but it sounds good and that bread...yummy looking. Have a slice or two or three for me please.
I have been intrigued with the solar oven for some time now. Would you be so kind as to picture the entire oven for us? How big is it? Where did you find it? Do you think a somewhat mechanically minded person such as myself could make one? muddy
hey muddybob, all, here is the link where we found the stove. it's spendy, but i think well worth it. it's usually $279, but we got it on sale for $210. http://www.sunoven.com/usa.asp there are lots more links to instructions and other stoves, too, on google, but i'm really impressed with this one! it's like an ice chest, you know, the styrofoam type on the bottom painted black. and tilted. then there's a wooden frame on it that holds the glass door on it, then the reflectors. there's a pole in back with a knobby thingy and strap with holes that will let it slant where you need for optimal sun. hubby wanted to build one, but i wanted something sturdy...teehee...that was not very nice of me...anyway, i always save a little cash here and there for such wonderous expenditures when they appear, and this was a really great one!!! maybe you can find some directions, but the thing is worth its weight in gold so far....course, it doesn't weigh much, but it's really fun and worth it. really blew me away that i cooked two loaves of bread and a whole chicken and meatloaf, etc... in it with no electricity or propane, etc.... just the sun! the solar oven collapses into an easy carrier too. here's another link describing how it works.... http://www.sunoven.com/world%27s%20most ... 20oven.asp i still haven't tried pizza in it yet...oh, and canning...still reading about it! can you tell, i'm really excited!!! yup! got to try cookies, cakes, etc....too!!! hubby says i should be a dealer...no way jose!
Great idea, it's about time we started harnessing sun-power! Thanks for sharing that and let us know how the canning goes. Gardengater
