This one was more pretty when the flowers were more full. I took a bunch of seeds from it to plant next year. Just not sure what it is.

It was the only one down by the edge of the lake,-like someone just threw it there maybe.

It looks like Cleome, petunia. Some bird may have deposited it there. Good find.

Not so sure if thats what it is. I have purple, white, pink cleomes with seed sprouts and this red flower doesn't have the same seedlings.

Whatever it is, I like it. Very unusual and a great find.

Looks like Lobelia Cardinalis Petunia. It likes damp ground and the Hummers love it.
    Great find!

I agree with Sjoerd. That's some type of Bee Balm (Monarda)

They do like moist ground, no doubt about it.
Ponds and lakes are a popular growing place for them.

I immediately thought Lobelia as I grow it as a marginal in my pond and it is in bloom now and looks mighty similar.

After flower, does this plant get little pods which hold tiny little seeds?

I will try to remember to take a look at mine tomorrow, and if I am really clever, I shall take the camera and take a pic to post. I am going to tell Mark right now to remind me!

I know its not to be a cleome because they have sprouts like a bean that have seeds inside. This red flower had a round pod thats has seeds inside. Thanks though glendann.

Here is a photo of the lobelia cardinalis in my garden. Looks the same to me. How lucky to find it growing wild. Good luck with the seeds.
