I am doing a seed trade for Mimosa tree seeds, which I LOVE the tree, but it is listed as invasive here, so to have one, I am going to try & make it into a Bonsai Tree. I have been reading everything I can, & even found a Bonsai course at a high school here at night, I just have to plant my seeds & wait for the trunk to be a certain thickness, then I am going to sign up. Has anyone here ever done this before? I plan to document it in my blog here on garden stew once I get it started (setting it up today.) Does anyone have any Bonsai tree's? Id love to see pictures. Anyone know any tricks? anything really, just trying to learn, read, & see all I can. Not sure if that is real or not, but it sure is pretty. Wish me luck!
I used to grow Bonsai and the tree has to be at least 5 years old to be considered a bonsai, I grew many seedlings into bonsai yet I had trouble with most of them to be a true bonsai as the leaves and flowers werent as small as they whould be I bought one and that was very good though you have to be careful buying bonsai as many are cuttings of a tree that are rooted and put in small pots not a true bonsai at all, true nbonsai take many years to perfect and a lot of TLC. Enjoy growing them it is a very rewarding hobby knowing you worked so hard to create a perfect miniature and just as a bonus they are so so pretty.
Wow I wish that I was brave enough to try to grow one of these. I was visiting a blog where someone had started one. They look like they would take a lot of care and would be kind of difficult to care for. Good luck!
I had one years ago but it was too much upkeep on it and at the time no computer access to learn what it liked and how to care for it...I do hope you share some photos, they are beautiful to look at...Sherry
