I have this plant but never know its identity.

The leaves feels hairy and vevelty. It produces small white flowers. It has a fruit or something which turns from pink to red. It propagates so easily and probably by wind and I wonder could it be a weed?

I don't know what you've got there, but if it's a weed it certainly is a pretty one! I don't think I've seen your plant in the house plant shops here. Wonder what it is?

I'm sorry, I don't know what it is either but it certainly is pretty and interesting.

A weed is just a plant that grows where you don't want it to.

Hey, I got the answer! It is a Rivina humilis L. Common name is Rouge plant, belonging to the Petiveriaceae Family. Its a perennial, native Florida shrub. Rouge-plant can be found in colonies. Apparently, the fruits are eaten by Rio Grande turkeys, chachalacas, mourning doves, white-winged doves and numerous species of passerine birds. The leaves are consumed by javelinas. Interesting! I wonder how it got to Singapore!

Somebody probably brought the seeds with them. I'm glad you found out about your plant. :D

I wonder if it could have been brought to your garden by birds Songlim? I know their droppings have produced some strange plants that grow here but aren't native to Britain.

I bought this pot of Rouge plant from a nursery. Perhaps like what Droopy said, the owner of the nursery could have brought the seeds back to Singapore. It's a pretty sight afterall.

i have a plant somewhat the same in my garden, it grows fast all around the place. since it is pretty, i don't want to get rid of it completely. it seems the berries are good for increasing the heamoglobin. thanks for the name songlim.
