Personally, I am glad all the decorating, wrapping, cooking, etc. is over for another year. It is not nearly as much fun taking down decorations and boxing things back up, as it it putting them up. I feel the need to get it all done in a day, although it didn't all go up in a day. Then there is the extra laundry from guests and cleaning the house all over again!!! I will be glad when it is all back in the shed and I can rest!! :-|
I must admit that I'm quite glad it's over too Kuntrygal as it's so much hard work for us women isn't it? Mind you it was lovely having the children here with us on Christmas day. Even although they're all grown up now I still like to see them opening their presents and having fun.
I am very glad its over.I am totally exhausted.I cooked until 4:am and got to bed about 5 am and was up at 9 am and late last night getting to bed.I enjoyed it but its resting time now.
I haven't cooked a single meal, and have wrapped only a few presents, so I'm probably better off than most of you. I have cleaned, made cookies with the girls and decorated, but that Christmas-crazy husband of mine has done the rest. He started wrapping presents and playing Christmas music in mid-November, by the way.
I had my inlaws here for 3 days, and for the first time I have to say we had a great Christmas together and enjoyed each other's company. That's partly because I bought my husband a Wii for Christmas, and even though it was too cold to be outside here, we kept occupied playing with the Wii inside. My 80 year old mother in law loved the bowling game and we played for hours! They're gone now, and I plan to spend a good part of the morning in my robe before going out to shovel off our roofs. We've had record-breaking snowfalls here this December, and the decorations will have to wait!
I am very glad it's over too. I am so tired of turkey and ham, hang tradition...we are going out to eat on Thanksgiving next year and have steaks next Christmas.
I'm with kkluv I have got to start eating healthier! That is not something you hear me say very often!!! I'm a junk food lover but all the junk food has caught up to me this year We will take our decorations down New Year's Day. Maybe I'll try to convince my husband to do it tomorrow afternoon. It's always kind of sad to box up another Christmas :'( The thing I have the hardest time with is the change in attitude all around me. Last week everyone was happy and saying "Merry Christmas" and now they are all back to the hustle and bustle of every day life. I wish that Christmas Spirit would last a little longer :'( Deanna :-D
I've always been pretty fanatic about getting everything put away before the new year. But this year, I don't know, just the thought of ending it gives me the blues. So for the first time in 20-odd years, I think we will still have our pretty tree up on New Years day. Besides, I'm way too busy digging slush so DH can get to work, and should really be out there right now, lol!
You do have a point there...I've been eating way more than usual and noticed that my pants are tight I'll take the tree down on January 2nd.
I'm glad it's done this year because of our move. I did put things up and now I can take it down and finish unpacking boxes. We were sitting in the recliner chairs today trying to decide just where we do want things when the tree comes down. I usually take it down January 3rd as the 2nd is my birthday and I refuse to do work on my birthday unless I get paid for it. dooley
We had a very quiet time, just myself and OH and an elderly gentleman friend who joined us for dinner and a few Xmas whiskys. We don't buy into the Christmas commercialism / consumerism and our 'decs were minimal too. Very enjoyable though and looking forward to the New Year; hoping it brings happiness to all 'Stewers.
Well, I'm glad it is over as everyone was ill! GGRR. Mum and Mark had a horrid flu, so mum spent Christmas day in bed. James has a cough which is keeping him up all night. Jessica and stepdaughter are just getting over a cold so are a little ratty. My sister is in hospital today due to an abcess in her jaw which came up on Christmas day and her face is so swollen the docs are worried about her breathing. So, today we have my Uncle arriving so hopefully they will be in a good mood and eat up some of the food we have left.
