Hello I am from Orlando FL and am currently enrolling in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy. One Question I have is that if I wanted to grow my own herbs what are the demands? I have found the perfect place that does not hold water but still gets watered 3 times a week but never gets direct sunlight. Is that OK? They will be up against my house and the sunlight is about 3-4 feet further out pretty much year round.

Herbs need at least 6 hours of full sun each day to grow. There are a few that will handle partial shade but none that I know of that succeed in full shade.

So my option is find a new place. Well thanks good to know. I would grow inside but I have planed a BIG herb garden for every day cooking and garnishing. I don't want after a week of pinching parsley there's none left.

Most herbs will grow just fine in pots outside. If you have scattered areas of full sun you could place them in those areas without having to find one large sunny spot for an inground herb garden.

I could do that but I may just have a real dumb ? for you. What about around an above ground pool or is that just stupid cuz of the possible over splash of chlorine?
