Can I make a suggestion Sjoerd???? would you please go back and edit the pictures if you can and put a space between all of them...they would even look better if you could...

only do it if you want but it would make them easier to look at..Sherry

    THANK YOU....

I am very happy that you folks enjoyed the fotos of the flower show. it is always so nice, it's a pity that we don't live closer...but in the area where I live, many farmers grow a crop of bulbs as part of their rotation program---and it is really nice to bicycle out through the countryside and see the fields. it truly is a remarkable sight.

Thanks you Capt. K--That is the exact same reaction that I have the moment I set foot inside the park.

It sure would be, Petunia. They really do look like rainbows. That's a good descriptiuon.

Well, Green Numb-- your enthusiasm is resally infectious. The fields are so commonplace here that sometimes I almost take them forgranted...but your words sort of brought me back to reality and I had another look at the pics. There is a very sweet fragrance in the air that comes from the fields with hycinths in them. In the Keukenhof many Viburnums (Viburnum burkwoodii) were in bloom and they have quite a wonderful scent--it pervaded the whole complex. I only have one of these bushes in my own garden, but it sure does perfume the air.

You know, Netty--those bulbs are not planted by hand anymore--they are done with a machine.

Oh Eileen, you are so lucky to have visited them. I can easily imagine that the experience is a lasting one. I think that56 the fotos bear out how remarkable the flower show is.

Ha ha ha...EJ--you are too funny. What do you mena, "...bring back ancient menories"? You're waaaaay too young to have had any 'ancient' memories. hahahahaha :D

Gaylyn, I'm glad that those fotos brightened your day. --your comment brightened mine. :)

Hiyah Droopy-- I may make a sort of slide show with more pics. Things are a bit busy here at the momewnt, but I will try and find time in the coming days, I promise.

Will do, Sherry. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks to the rest for all the very kind words.
My m-i-l- is still talking about those flowers. She really enjoyed herself quite alot.

Breathtaking photos, you must have a phenomenal camera. I'd love to be able to visit some springtime.

Great of you to make the arrangements for your mil. I did the same with my Mom (only instead of gardens, she preferred a trip to Las Vegas!). We had a scooter and a wheelchair available for my Mom once we got there, and she scootered all around the Boulevard!

I got e-mails back with a lot of wows....and breath taking...

I think you should look around for a photo contest or go to a magazine to have them published..I know Birds & Blooms get pictures from the readers of their magazine ....but no pay there...Really those pictures should be shown everywhere...they are so beautiful and you did such a good job of photography.

Quit your blushing now...you deserve the credit for these pictures... :-D they are great.

    Sherry

I do agree, Sherry. They are just that pretty. I would love to have prints myself. The photos make me smile, to think such beauty is going on somewhere right now. Your gardener's eye came in very handy Sjoerd!!

What a good s-i-l you are Sjoerd to take your m-i-l on such a beautiful outing. Spectacular photos, the colours are amazing.
I have some photos of these gardens which I use as desktop photos. I must admit to 'borrowing' them from a lady called Ina who is a friend of Eileen's a while back when she visited. Of course, I asked her permission first :)

Thank you guys for the lovely comments. That place is so nice and so beautiful one can simply point and click, in a matter of speaking.
I use one for my desktop as well, Gardengirl...but mostly just pictures of flowers that I grow--I have a programma that can change them every time I turn the compi on.
Well, now with this new computer, I haven't re-installed it yet, I'm still just using the Vista thing. Perhaps I will re-install the program later when I get a few free moments.

Anyway, thanks again for all your nice words, folks.

It looks spectacular and I quickly jumped onto the Google ariel shots to find they had passed over before the blooms or after.

    Your photographs are splendid though.

    Thanks for sharing

wow sjoerd! awesome pics! what a wonderful place to visit.

that's interesting that they cut the blooms off at a certain time for multiples to form? never heard of that before.

Well, Bunkie that's how they get the bulbs to split and not so much "energy" is then spent to make and maintain the flower. After all it's the bulbs that are the real money-makers.
How's your weather there now--anything blooming yet?
