These are very poisonous mushrooms, the colorful one was about 10 inches across, it was amazing. Both are amanita's.

Very pretty to look at but best left alone. I like to take pictures of fungi but I wouldn't dare pick any as I'm totally unsure of just which ones are poisonous.

I don't eat any myself either, only from the store, and then I could do without them. I go out with experts and they name them all for me. I'm getting quite a collection of images now, must have over 70 from around here. Most are in my nature site except the last 3 that I took yesterday.

I avoid them too, but they sure made great shots for your Kildale!

Nice photos. :D I like the red spotted ones because of their colour. I know lots of people have died eating the white one because they thought they were chamignons. I only pick the ones I'm 100% certain of. 99% isn't good enough.

Great photos Kildale thank you, I love the look of the first one, I think we call it fly argaric? I could be wrong there though but its awfully poisonous. The second one I have not seen before and to me it reminds me of the look of plaster of paris! wouldnt want to eat that one either. I have no clue on fungus identification so would never eat anything I found but I do enjoy seeing fungus grow, so long as it isn't fungus on my orchids :D

Yes it is called fly argaric as it was mixed with milk to attract flies and then they died.

Actually, the red spotted fly mushroom is the least poisonous of the group. The white and green ones are far worse. Amazing thing, nature.

Really interesting photos and commentaries about the poisonous mushrooms. I would never consider eating anything I picked. Would they be poisonous to animals too, say a dog rummaging in the woods on a hike?

I would say yes as some of them are deadly poisonous.

A friend of my neighbor little puppy ate some fungi of some kind and it killed the little thing! They let the puppy outside alone...
