What flower is this??? ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden )

I have always wondered what this flower is?
It is a shrub and it grows in the wild in abundance in areas where the land is abandon especially around swampy areas like fringes of padi fields. I was told that the leaves have a antibiotic effect and is especially good for minor wounds ...... err I was told this when I was a kid :D by some village folks. I knew of this plant and flower when I was about 7 years old and it a great plant to look for spider then. :-D The good old days.

Looking at your plant I am going to guess a species of Tibouchina. It does have medicinal uses but not sure what they are.

It looks a little different than the plant that we use in the garden, Princess flower or Tibouchina urvilleana

Thanks for the Christmas present :) , yes it is indeed Tibouchina granulosa and now after almost half a century I now only know that it is not native to my country. Maybe it came with the rubber tree :D ..... Merry Christmas All!!!!
