I am currently visiting Mexico (been living in FL the last 13 years) and I bought this beautiful purple flower yesterday for 40 pesos. It's about 18" tall already and loaded with buds. After searching through bazillions of photos and not finding it, I found your Garden Stew forum and figured here I will definitely find my answer because I've seen some pretty savvy member posts already. Thanks a million to whomever can identify my newest 'baby' so that I can go research her proper care & maintenance. I think your plant is a Tibouchina urvilleana Glory bush Another member posted a photo of a similar flower the other day, Tibouchina granulosa and that sent me on a hunt for the same plant/different variety to find yours.
You came to the right place Donna(flowerlover) Glad you found the Stew.I love being here with my other family.Welcome aboard.
Funny that two people were looking for an ID on Tibouchina. It is hard to beat that purple. Welcome to the Stew, flowerlover :-D
