Yesterday, we stood and watched our house come down the road. A big truck was pulling it just like we would pull a small camping trailer. The big truck pulled it right into it's new location and unhooked and left. This cute little remote control dozer was hooked onto to it and moved it around a bit at a time until it was just right.

This is the back door. There will, of course, be skirting after it's leveled and blocked. There will be a deck out from the door.

This is the back yard with the big brush pile. dr is going to rescue some of the larger pieces for fire wood. The rest will be burned. There is still much to be cleared.

This is the front yard. It goes past those two cedar trees about six feet. There are four large and one small cedar tree between us and the road. There is also an oak tree and some other smaller trees.

This is more front yard toward the road. Some brush to finish cutting and move to the burn pile.

This is the garden. It goes to the back of the lot. There's some clearing to be done yet and tilling and compost and additives added and of course plants.

and here is the new house picture taken from the end of the long porch where we are now.

We won't be able to move in for awhile. But there is lots to be done while we wait. The big deck just arrived and the movers are leveling it and setting the blocks under it. We can start work on the yard and garden any time it isn't raining which is going to be tomorrow. We want to put a patio, covered in the front yard. It will be shady there in the afternoon. dr is going to put a long deck in the front so one day I will have morning glories but perhaps not this year.

Oh how exciting :smt026 A new home and a new garden that's a blank canvas. :smt023 Wish we could all be there to give you a hand with the move and all the garden work. Do keep those photographs coming as I, for one, want to see every detail of the move. Chance is going to have lots of room to run around in isn't she? :-D

How exciting to have your new home delivered and in place. Looks like you have lots of space for a huge garden and lots of work to do. We look forward to seeing how your garden grows and expands. What a peaceful setting with all the trees around you. Congratulations and good luck. :stew2:

That looks like a big place, Dooley. There is plenty of room for yard and garden.
Are you planning to burn all the wood scraps on the ground where the garden will be? The ashes will be very good for the ground.
It's going to be a big garden area. If you put that to full use, you'll have to buy a freezer to hold all your veggies. :)

But gosh...there are so many choices of what to do and how to lay it out...beds, borders trelisses, etc, etc.

Well congrats on your new dwelling and yard. Please do keep us updated when things develop there.

The house is smaller and just suited for us. But, there is a lot of space. We don't know just where the one side line will be until all the houses are there. It's likely to be 100 feet by 150 feet, more or less. We won't get it all cleared at once though. We are thinking of burning the brush where I want the garden. dr wants to plant fruit trees along the fence. That would also protect the garden from the hot sun in the morning. It will work itself out as we do things down there. The big question when we walk down there is, "Where do we start?" I'm thinking with burning the brush so we can see what's left there.

I don't know which is more exciting for you. A new home or ground to envision and bring to life a garden. Wow! Congrats on both.
