Hi Joann...I can't think of the name of that next to last plant (plant 2), but I do not believe that it is a zinnia. I think that it is a plant that has grouped pinkish flowers resembling a Phlox somewhat. If it is what I think it is it can produce a copious amount of underground roots thah can sometimes be a bit of a nuience to get rid of.
I shall keep looking for the name of it.

I found pictures of stinging nettles and #1's foliage does indeed look like it. This is what it looks like this morning, it has some kind of shoot coming out of the top that doesnt look like stinging nettles. It also feels sticky. After reading about stinging nettles I dont think I'll be out rubbing leaves anymore!

If I'm not mistaken that shoot is an entirely different plant. Your leaves don't look like stinging nettles at all, actually. Put some thick gloves on and go rub, please. :D

The shoot is a different and yes they are very sticky (and very invasive).
The other does look like Nettle to me or rather what I have been pulling 'assuming' it was Nettle.

Ok..I went armed with garden gloves and took a closer look. Yes, Droopy you are exactly right. It was an entirely different plant growing up between the suspected nettle. I pulled it up and the stem and leaves stuck to my glove. Looking closer, the fruit on that stem resembles a cocklebur. Something else I gotta pull up.

I also pulled up what we think might be nettle. There are no stingy things on the stem or under the leaves..all are smooth.

I have a feeling I have major weeding to do. :'(

I was thinking of a type of Saponaria... but now I am not so sure. The immature leaves in your pic are broader than the leaves will be further up the plant nearer the flowers as the plant matures.
They tend to become narrower and pointier if it is the Saponaria.
You may have to wait untilo it blooms for a positive identification.
