I started my hols a few days ago and today...finally...it rains. Naturally I'm disappointed a bit because I took vacation in order to harvest and do a bit of touch-up work in the lotties; but I have to say, this rain is welcome. I can take a day off (sorta) and do a few leisure things--a bit of reading, a bit of jamming and of course some posting on here.

Today, because it's gray and rainy, I'd like to show some pics of flowers that were/are blooming. I sort of snapped them in-between the harvesting.

I will begin with a hot splash of summer colour--Crocosmia.

Here, a yellow Cosmos with some Oreganum.

A lily that I cannot identify--it was labeled, "Iris".

    Some sunny Helenium.

This Veronica was very popular with the bees.

This Echinacea 'Razzmatazz' is such a hot pink that it catches my eye every time I pass by.

We call this Physostegia a "hinge-flower", because you can turn it left and right and it stays.

The bumblebees are in great numbers this year and they really spend alot of time on this Lythrum salicaria.

The bumblebees also are quite fond of this Eryngium.

I am very partial to the Scabiosa sorts. This blue one just does it for me!

Another blue thing is the Borage plant. I can't tell you how many bumblebees and honeybees there are on these plants this year.

Finally, this wonderful wall of Lavender just smells divine...and it isn't bad to look at either.

Wonderful blooms Sjoerd. I must say, you have captured some of my favorite flowers of summer. I really love your Crocosmia...it must be a nice sized clump. I hope mine fill in as nicely. I don't think the Helenium is blooming here yet, but it is also one of my favorites.

Thank you, GLENDA--I'm glad that you liked that foto especially. There's lots of colour here at the moment.

Thanks NETTY--It sounds like we have the same taste when it comes to flowers. Yes, there is a nice little clump of Crocosmia there. I have them in several places now after having broken-up the one huge clump that I once had.

Thanks EILEEN--It really is colourful here and iundeed a pleasure to be in. BTW--I haven't seen many of your plants and blooms this year. How are yours doing?

    Thanks KILDALE

Thanks FRANK--It's so nice that you liked the posting this time. Beautiful colour in one's garden is always a pleasure. We have a bit of rain now, but that's ok...it's dry so the work can continue.

Lovely colour. :D Our crocosmia haven't started yet, and they are sorely in need of transplanting. I adore the blues you're showing. And the yellows and pinks too. :D The obedient plant is really something else, isn't it? I keep playing with mine when it blooms. Bad girl!

I have also noticed lots and lots of bumble bees this year. They're all over the blooms and are not too happy about my trying to cut down near-dead flower stands. I adore the buzzing sound they make when I'm not too close to them. :D I've let the thyme and oregano bloom just for the bees' enjoyment. I can dry some next year.

Nice photos Sojerd. Do they grow by themselves or cultivated? Please excuse my ignorance :)

I loved seeing your flowers Sjoerd. They all look so happy. It's tough to say which I like best, but that Echinachea Razzmatazz is really cool!
So glad you are getting some rain...

Thanks so much, DROOPY--Your Crocosmia had better hurry up, hadn't they? Fall will be here before you know it. I'm glad you like the blues, I do too.
Yes, the obedient plant is fun to play with. I always take the opportunity to show it and it's peculiarity to every visitor to the flower garden. hahaha--what am I like, eh?!
I let my Thyme and Oreganum flower this year as well.

KK--These flowers were planted from seed or bought as small seedlings and then placed in the flower garden. They are all perennials.

Thanks loads, KL-- Nice to see you again. All well there?

Thank you KAY--Yes, that Razzmatazz is quite something to see.
