Plant Suggestion Needed Please

I have this fish bowl I keep at my office. Been having Bettas in it. The latest one just died and I'm tired of replacing them. I was thinking I could turn the fish bowl into a planter... but didn't know what kind of plant would live in it due to no drainage. The bowl is about 6 inches wide and3 inches deep.

Ooo yeah, I would go for aquatic plants also. Or I believe you can get a miniature water lily. I guess the other option is cacti as they don't need much water, or you could go the other way and go for insectiverous (is that a word??) plants as they like damp, humid conditions.

 

I was thinking more of along the line of a houseplant.
But I can always be persuaded to get more water plants. :-D

 

I guess cacti then...maybe lithops or even a fern.

 

One plant I like to grow in pots without drainage holes is the peace lily. Peace Lily likes moist soil. It's usually easy to find and thrives even in low light conditions. Usually watering once a week is sufficient if there's no drainage holes. Hopefully you can find one small enough to fit your pot. That's usually the plant you find growing in the top of the beta fish vases.

 

I love the water lily idea Cheryl.It or any small water plant as you could still see the line on the fishing pole.

 

I'd put carnivorous plants in there. I think those plants are so weird and I like weird.

 

I like the water plant idea too, since that would be more in line with the fisherman theme. But would a water lily do well indoors? I thought water lilies needed full sun.

 

Hubby asked what I was going to do with the fish bowl. Told him I was thinking of putting a house plant in it.
He shook his head and said "Last month you spent days trying to get a container with holes not to leak... and now you're trying to figure out what to do with something that has no holes. Why not just use something the way it was intended?!"
My answer... "what fun would that be?"
But, with all your suggestions here... I've decided to go with some sort of water plant. I have some Parrot Feather already in a couple of the water container gardens. Thinking of using some of that...
Plus... what do you think of putting some of that "Lucky Bamboo" in there too? I have some just growing in a little glass vase.
Good idea or not so good?
