Since fall is right around the corner, I was wondering how all of you decorate for the fall. Fall is my favorite time of the year, and I decorate in the house and outside with fall arrangements, pumpkins, etc.
Decoration for Halloween is a tradition, still back from the time when my son was still living at home with us.

Around here, just about everybody gets a bale of hay or 2 or 3 and stacks them. Then we surround the hay with purchased or homemade scarecrows, pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and potted mums or other fall flowers. The squirrels and deer usually steal the corn. If watering your area would be difficult, some realistic-looking silk flowers can be found nowadays. It makes a great display for the roadside or entrance to your property. Also, makes a great spot for taking photos of the children. I have a cute one of my little boy wearing overalls and sitting on the hay bale. Last year I added some fall leaf swags purchased from Hobby Lobby. We do some smaller similar displays inside too, using the artificial hay bales from the craft store. :stew2:

I don't decorate a whole lot for fall, I love fall but just don't have room to store decorations. I change table cloths and I have a couple of yard signs that I put out but nothing very involved.

And you can't really put pumpkins and gourds outside that time of year around here, it is usually way too warm and they rot in a short period of time.

I do decorate for Halloween and have quite a collection of witches tho.

Thanks for the ideas. I've always liked the bales of hay and scarecrow look for the fall. I might just try it this year.

I know what you mean about the weather being to warm for the pumpkins and gourds outside since I live in Texas too. I want to do something though more this year because of my little grandson. Yes, I put out things in the house, tablecloths, kitchen towels, wreaths, and decorate the mantle. This year I just want to go a little more, like I use to when my son was younger and still at home.

    Fall decorating

Well I hate to see fall and winter come, but I don't do a lot to decorate the house, I usually make new fall curtains and change pillows and make new covers for them,I put on new table cloths or I make them , If I make all these things this year i will post pics. of them. I have the material picked out I just have to sit down and do it. I made a couple of table cloths this summer out of sheets I bought at the dollar store, they really had some pretty sheets, I will take pics of them and show you.
    See you later Margie

Oh, you must decorate for Halloween. It must be kind of neat to have your birthday on that day. I just love the fall time and Halloween. I can't wait to start my fall decorating now, but still have to wait at least until the middle of Sept.
Have fun celebrating all the month of October.

I'm glad I could give you your first Birthday Greeting even though it is a little early. Do you grow pumpkins? No problem listening. It is a pleasure.

I am always very stubborn about seeing Summer end, and letting go of all my pretty growing things. It makes me feel sort of sad when the perennials are waning and the annuals are dying!
Autumn is a pretty season, but I think of putting things away, cleaning up, and of course, raking leaves.
So, I don't feel very inspired to decorate. Maybe you fellow Stewbies will inspire me this year to have a better attitude, and do something fun? :-|
