My first post. I live in East TX. My husband apparently got a cutting of some plant last fall and put it in the soil and forgot about it. He has no idea what it was that he planted. We have watched it grown all summer and now it is getting ready to bloom. Had thought it might be some hibiscus related plant but now I just don't know. Will post more pictures in a few days when blooms open. It's about 3 1/2 foot tall. Linda ( photo / image / picture from kitadog's Garden )
Doesn`t look like any hibiscus I am familiar with. I am in east Texas too but I haven`t a clue about that plant. Sorry.
I had thought it might be a hibiscus at first until I saw the spiky flowers starting to form. This thing has bugged me all summer. LOL
www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/crops/facts/01-009.htm My first thought was green pigweed. Do you have a closer photo?
It does look similar to the pigweed you posted. Flowers are just beginning to open. They look like very tiny pink bells in rows along the spike. Took a closeup but it blurred. Will try again tomorrow.
