This spring I spotted my very first Clearwing Hummingbird Moth the one that is yellow and black and looks like a bee. Not too long after that my honeysuckle was full of Clearwing cats.
This afternoon I was taking a lunch break on the back deck and spotted a flying critter I was in hopes it would still be there after I ran in a got my camera...and it was!
My first White Line Sphinx Hummingbird Moth I did a group photo because I could not choose which photo I liked the best :)

Awww, they're such pretty things. :D I've only seen those in southern Europe, and they fascinate me.

What wonderful shots - neither wonder you found it hard to pick just one. I'm so glad you decided to let us see them all as this is a moth, I for one, have never seen in real life before. Many thanks. :-D

You are a great photographer! These moths are so fast and so erratic in flight that getting great pictures of them is very difficult. You did it!
When I saw our first sphinx moth I really thought it was a hummingbird.
We have seen a few here on the farm, and only one in town. I can't imagine the thrill of having several!
Thank you so much for sharing your photos.

It was a very nice surprise I was expecting to see the other one sometime but not this beauty. I am not sure if it had just emerged but I know it was at my butterfly bush for over an hour. :)

Great job on getting photos! I just saw a Hummingbird Moth the other day and thought how nearly impossible it would be to try to photograph one.

Fabulous shots indeed. We have seen them on our travels around Europe, but never up close and personal enough to get such sharp pictures.

Great shot. I started out with one hummingbird moth several years ago. I too thought it was a hummingbird. The following year it was two. Now I have four that come visit me in the evening.
