Mimi had her right knee replaced on Wednesday the 26th. I have been driving the nearly 100 mile round trip to the hospital each day. Yesterday there was an eerie light in the sky, and I was fortunate to have my camera in the car, and I got a couple shots. It turns out that the clouds had thinned some and gave us the interesting sky. You can also get an idea of the area where we live. I included a couple other shots along the drive.

Very pretty country you live in Tom. I think that eerie light might be the sun ... sure hasn't been around much lately.
I hope Mimi recovers from her surgery quickly.

Next time you visit Mimi Tom give her our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. I hope she'll soon be able to get around more easily.
I've had both knees replaced and once the bruising, pain and swelling went down I realised just how bad my knees had been before the surgery.

Your photographs are so atmospheric and remind me of a few weeks ago here. Let's hope the snow melts quickly so that it makes your trips to the hospital less arduous.

Sure hope Mimi's recovery goes well. That is a beautiful drive but I imagine in that weather it isn't as nice as it will be in a few months.

Best wishes for Mimi for a speedy recovery. Nice pictures Tom, evergreens look picturesque with a little bit of snow on them.

Get well quick wishes to Mimi. Nice country Tom and having to drive about 100 miles round trip each day must be tiring. Here if we drive for 50 miles is like going to another state!!

Interesting fotos, Tom....they can make me feel quite cold. It is a lovely area there. The lighting was quite interesting to see--it just adds to the charm of what is on the ground.

I hope that all goes well with the knee replacement. 100 miles a day....well, 200 actually that you drive. That seems a long distance. Is that about 1½-2 hours each way? I just know that your bride appreciates it tremendously though.

    Sjoerd,
The drive is 100 miles round trip. About 1 hour each way, depending on the weather and road conditions. It's still a long drive, but one we know well, as the horses are kept about 2/3s of the way to the hospital. I go with in eye sight of the barn. But all that ends today, as Mimi is coming home.

Isn't it amazing how quickly they send people home after knee replacemrnts? My mom had one a few years ago, and her best advice is to be very diligent with the physical therapy, even when it hurts and you don't want to do it. ;)

Hello Tom -- so glad to hear Mimi is home. I hope her rehab goes well and please add my good wishes to the GS pot.

Your pics are gorgeous. I am always excited when I see that you've posted hoping there are some photos of that pretty part of the world. You do such a good job of capturing the beauty too.
