I mowed my yard area yesterday and was just about done. Only had about 20 minutes of work to do, when the steering link on my tractor broke. Can't steer it at all, so it's setting in the yard with a tarp over it. I got the parts on order, but they won't ship until Mon. and it will be at least Tue. before I get them! And to top it all off, its going to be hot all this week. Into the 90's all week long. I thought I left that behind when I left Georgia!
Sounds like my luck, at least mine just ran out of gas. Been so busy still haven't gotten any gas. LOL
OH NO! Dont you just hate that?? We have a brand new lawn mower my hubby bought for me to mow the lawn while he is out on the rig. He used it for about a half hour the day he got it. Early last week I went to use it, and wouldnt you know, I dont have the upper body strenght to get the darn thing started!!! So I had to pay someone to come do it AND they never came back to finish....so the grass around me roses and plants are higher than the plants themselves! :-x
The tractor is about 10 years old. But it still runs good. The steering drag link is used constantly when steering it. The part that broke is the ball socket on the end of it. I had replaced the drag link about 5 years ago, because it had broken in a different spot. I had the ball socket from the old one but it was 3/8ths at the threads and the draglink is 7/16ths at the threads. So I couldn't use that. I tried ordering the a new ball socket, but they only come in 3/8ths now. So the only alternative was a new draglink with the ball socket on it. It will only take about 15 minutes to put the new piece on once I get it!
We have a Kubota tractor that is about 3 years old and John always has to replace some kind of pin on the part that connects the brush hog to the tractor. I'm not good at automotive things but he says something about it just sheared a pin again! And just about every time he goes out to use it he has to air up the tire!! I can drive it but I'm always afraid that something will happen while I'm using it. So we definately symphtize (sp?) with tractor problems!!
jubabe, have him get a product called slime at an auto parts store. You put it in the tires and when you get a puncture in a tire, it reseals it. I have black locust trees that get thorns on then like 8 or 9 inches long. I used to get flats all the time, but none since I started using slime!
Thanks Capt.!! I'll be sure and tell John about the slime product!! We have those thorns here too! I stepped on one the other day and it went through my shoe and broke off in my foot!! Boy talk about hurt!! It took a few days for my foot to feel better!!
well,life's like that. we are tried sometimes. sad thing is that, when it rains...it pours! got widen the patience...lol
I live on 3 1/2 acres and mow about 1/2 of it. The tractor is an 18 1/2 horsepower lawn tractor. It has a belly mower slung underneath it. I also have a snow thrower that fits on the front for the winter time. My lane is 1/4 mile long. Needless to say, I live in the country!
Sounds wonderful!!! Apart from the tractor problems of course. I live in the country too, but my garden is nowhere near the size of yours! Im grateful for small mercies :-D
